This story tells of a recent patient at the centre and the outcome…
As patron of the SA Bird of Prey Rehabilitation Centre in Williamstown, Barossa Valley we’d like to share this wonderful story through our site. This story tells of a recent patient at the centre and the outcome… good for the falcons, not so good for the resident pigeons in the city!
That being said, let’s bear in mind the Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus), fastest animal on earth, is a local here and a top order predator. They are a valuable part of our ecosystem and the less lost the better. The adult male peregrine was taken to the centre after being found grounded, suspected window collision. He lay barely conscious for around 2 days and then began a very slow but steady recovery. The story was posted on Facebook by University of Adelaide staff who had the pleasure of releasing him on March 24th, 2017 https://www.facebook.com/uniofadelaide/
